Ouza – Wethe, Productions Jambaar 1980

Ouza, front

After another six months, it was finally time. Time for the Mega
Records and CD Fair in Utrecht. The one in april is okay, but the
one in november, wow, everybody took their best load of
merchandise and came over. Specially some French dealers brought
along rare stuff. Like this guy from *** Records in Le Havre.

He showed me this;

Ouza’s music had a political load and was kind of radical.
He studied and was teacher and musician at the same time,
therefore he did not record many albums. I guess we are lucky
I found this one. It is a true beauty and I want to thank that
French dealer for bringing it to us.
Senegalese music at it’s best.

tracks;

1 Bayina music
2 Wethe
3 Sama gueleme-magana
4 Dootou mala bayi
5 Terango
6 Senegal 80

  1. Thanks for sharing this wonderful album of Ouza. I really liked all the songs particularly Teranga who reminds me of my time spent in Senegal when the DJ used to playit every saturday. By the way, do you have the one Mbaana with the “4 Femmes Dans Le Vent”? I’ll be vey grateful to you if you post it

  3. Is it the same guy (Ousmane Mai Diallo) that did this awesome tune called ‘liberté d’expression’? It’s more reggae than this LP. I found he was from Mali, but the fact that he’s also a teacher makes me think they are actually the same person.
    Anyway this one is simply terrific. Big up!
