King Sunny Ade and his African Beats – Check ‘E’
Sunny Alade Records Ltd. 1981

King Sunny Ade, front

Somehow I managed to squeeze one through again, I sure hope
our problem is history, there are no guarantees however.
For the moment here’s another King Sunny Ade. Early eighties
release, to my opinion the period he made his best music.
Check it out yourself I’d say.

tracks;

1 Ki isu to diyan
– Omo se koko
– Kajo jijo olomo
– O-wo-wo obele
2 Odun titun
– Enia se rere
– Eni jesu we
– Chief George Oyedele

  1. Thank you for another wonderful hypnotic trance-dance. I was completely unaware of the existence of this album. Of all the ones you could “squeeze” through your computer problems, I am glad it was Sunny Adé!

I hope your computer problems clear up soon, although perhaps the spirits are telling you that you can rest for awhile. I am still trying to catch up and am working my way forward through your posts. I am just finishing Sept 2008, so I still have a significant distance to go. But I am learning something new every step of the way.

  3. Used to have a few of these albums jst before he signed to Island. saw him live in London back then. Sheer joy! Another request would you have that first Womad album ‘Music & Rhythm’ that came out on WEA in the early 80’s, remember it was a nice mix.
    Regards/

  7. I searched a bit but yes I have that Music and Rhythm album.
I am not so sure I want to post it though, it contains quite a lot of English pop. XTC, Pete Townshend, Morris Pert and Jon Hassell to call a few names do not fit in the GG formula too well.
    Sorry, anything else maybe ?
