Vicky et OK Jazz, EMI 1971 / 1976

Two times a year, the biggest record-fair of Europe takes place
just 20 minutes from my home. One of my best friends owns a recordstore
and is participant on the fair. So lucky me, on friday I help him
build up his stand and off I am. Public comes on saturday, first choice
and lots of space. I almost feel guilty snatching away so much goodies
but you’re all lucky with me, I found some real treasures to share.

To start of I posted that fantastic highlife album by Vis-a-Vis yesterday.
Todays jewel is one that was released originally in 1971. This is the
1976 re-issue. Superb vocals by the great Vicky and as always, Franco’s
OK Jazz delivers high quality backing, sweet saxophones and guitars.
Stay tuned for lots of treasures to follow.

3 Ngai na boyakiyo te
4 En memoire de Bayon
5 Na zali kitoko mingi

  1. Very nice album! I hope you have more of these rare gems.
I suspect these tracks were recorded towards the end of 1970. Franco’s brother Bavon Marie Marie died on August 5, 1970; the track A4 refers to his death.
Also I suspect the tracks were remastered (for the re-release), judging by the exaggarated stereo (and compared to the single versions).

    I can’t wait for more…

  3. Hi Moos!
my previous comment was just kiddin’ – these records are much better in your hands, thanks so much for sharing all this fantastic music. Ít’s me who should feel guilty – I would like to do something in return for your good work, but these shares are so exceptional I could not think of anything (yet) – cheers man!
