When I saw this video at Youtube, I knew what to post today.
Orchestre Bella Bella & Soki Vangu. What a great match.
Both record and video are very nice, I love the way those four
up front are dancing, completely loose. Pure joy to
see and hear this group perform, feast upon this.

PS the last track sounds quite crispy although it
looks brandnew, track 4 same thing, looks perfect but
seems to jump a couple of times. Maybe it’s the recording.

  1. I can’t believe this. I was also on youtube listening to Bella Bella music (most of which are re-issues that have sections chopped off), I was thinking “If only I had the full versions of this songs!!!”, I log into global groove and what do I get?

  3. Amigo que bueno que te guste tanto esta musica, gracias por postear tan excelentes grabaciones esto aca en Barranquilla es algo de coleccion para publico selecto, Mil gracias yo tambien adora esta clase de ritmos, ojala postees de otras orquestas como la Kiam.

  9. Thanks Moos. Soki Vangu and his Orchestre Bella Bella were key players in Congolese music in the mid-1970s. The music speaks for itself, and it still claims a vast chunk of air play in East African, rivalled only by Orchestre Lipua Lipua, Kamale, Fuka Fuka, Kiam and Vévé. Yes Moos, you’ve understood what the people want. Needless to say, I’ll stay tuned. Have a good weekend.
