From Agenebode, the centre of Etsakor territory, we find this
album which is in pretty good condition. It is volume 7 of Professor
Adomagbo Irene’s Weppa-Wanno Dance Band. Decent sound.
The professor is more of a speaker than singer, something we
find with more Nigerian artists. Sleeve is in tact, vinyl too,
awesome music, a rarity, get it & spread it ..

  1. Hi Moos,
I do not know much about Nigerian Highlife , but seeing all these posts with, to my opinion ,very nice covers, I get intrigued.. As most of us on this earth I have very little time to listen to all these recordings. Can you give us some recommendations where to start exploring this music? I say us because I suppose I am not the only one with this feeling. Superb that an individual like you does the work which in fact a university or a radio station should do. Your server is a vault for quality music neglected by a so called international music industry who states year after year that Western bands like the Beatles are the finest in this world. To all Beatles fans I am sorry they got obviously their value, but their contribution to the international music scene is so over rated. They were just lucky they had the music industry behind them.
thanks for the endless effort you put into this this blog. Rik

  2. Thank you for your kind words Rik, if I were you I’d start listening to some Waziri Oshomah. I think his music belongs to the most accessible. Then maybe this Professor Adomagbo Irene.. Possibly Etsakor music is not the easiest type of
Nigerian highlife, the more you listen, the more you get the hang of it ..
    Cheers
