From 1983 we’ve got this self released record by Etoile de Dakar
and Youssou N’Dour. It concerns a live registration in Abidjan.
Great recording from the time before their huge breakthrough
in Europe. As stated it is released by the group itself and not on
label. Mbalax from a great band with great line-up .. enjoy ..

It’s more of a fake live audience.
I have a copy of this LP on tape named Show a Abidjan Volume 2 that does not have the live sound at all.
The best way to explain this is that the songs are taken from the following tapes Yarou – Vol : 5 and Djamil – Vol : 6
I already had my doubts about it ..
We have to forgive the occasional faux pas in the production department. It was the eighties after all and the overuse of synths etc was commonplace in most genres. Fake crowds can be ignored if not forgiven but once the particular mbalax groove starts to settle in there’s really not much to complain about. Thanks for posting some more sweet senegalese sounds.
